“Campaign Seeds did a kick-ass job getting me thousands of gold and silver leads, they are who I call first when I need anything done on the Internet.” ~ John Cavuoto, First National Bullion and Coin

Don’t wait to buy gold, buy gold and wait!

Recent online advertising for precious metal bullion dealers has exploded.   Nearly every web page whose content has news, politics, and/or financial reporting has an advertisement for gold and silver.  As a result, a niche market has now become over saturated with precious metal advertisement making it more expensive to generate leads online.

A small business with a limited budget, First National Bullion and Coin, came to Campaign Seeds looking for ways to develop new leads in a saturated market without having to spend the usual $10+ per click fee for online advertisements.

Think Outside the Box

Instead of using the old expensive method of directly advertising to people who are searching for “gold and silver”, Campaign Seeds wanted customers who were highly likely to invest in gold and silver to come to First National Bullion and Coin on their own. This change in methodology would not only be more economical but it would provide customers who were eager to buy their products and services. Most Internet advertising is paid on a per click bases. Businesses are looking to pay upwards of $10 per click in this niche market. Campaign Seeds decided to entice consumers with a free merchandise offer when they sign up to receive information on investing in precious metals. Our research led us to believe that we could use ideology to target consumers. Here is an example of just one of the promos we actually ran:

Research

Market research led us to believe that people who were part of the “End the Federal Reserve” movement where highly educated about gold and silver. They were concerned about the overprinting of dollars and the loss of their investment due to the debasement of the dollar. More specifically, this group wants to go back to the “gold standard” and believes precious metals are the best investment to hedge inflation. This was an obvious choice of people that would be highly likely to purchase precious metals.

Advertising

Campaign Seeds created an “END THE FED” bumper sticker for a fraction of the per click price and gave the stickers away for free. We produced an advertising campaign around the sticker and targeted people who were part of the END THE FED movement. We ran hundreds of ads with color variations, titles, descriptions and calls to action in order to get the best possible leads.

Lead Generation

As people landed on FNBC’s page, potential customers gave their contact information. They let FNBC know if they were interested in buying precious metals and how much they were willing to invest. Like most of our ad campaigns, we created multiple versions of our landing pages with different combinations of colors and texts to determine which version yielded the best results. Customers loved getting a free sticker so they sent it to their friends... and their friends sent it to their friends... and posted it to their blogs... and on their Facebook pages. The promotion went viral! After the initial advertising campaign, not only do we not need to purchase ads anymore, but we are getting clicks for free as opposed to $10+! More than half the people that view the page provided their address, phone number and email.  Even after we stopped running PPC advertisements at the promos the leads kept coming in, in fact they are still coming in.

Lead Follow Up

We configured the lead generation form to work in conjunction with FNBC’s own Customer Relationship Management software. FNBC was able to keep track of the people that contacted them and the people they followed up with as well as manage the products that were purchased so they could track results compared to investment.

Campaign Seeds created a drip marketing campaign in order to make sure their was a consistent follow up process with new leads. We provided an email service to continuously follow up with information regarding the precious metal market to ensure FNBC would be the first company consumers contacted if they wanted to invest.
